FAQ
Questions You Should be Asking Us and Any Remodeling Contractor
We welcome your questions. Because we’ve been in the home remodeling business for so long, we’ve heard almost everything. Check here for answers to the questions we hear most often, and for answers to a few that you should ask us, or any home remodeler. If you’re ready to find out more about what we can do for your home, bath, or kitchen remodeling project, call us for your free in-home consultation.
Are You Licensed?
Do you do insurance or commercial jobs?
No. We specialize in residential remodeling only.
Do you give free estimates?
Do you have any awards?
We are proud to be the recipient of the San Joaquin Valley American Business Ethics Award. Also, several of our kitchen designs have been featured in local and national publications. In fact, local realtors are sure to mention in their listings if Nelson-Dye has remodeled a kitchen or bathroom.
Don’t we need an architect?
Most people are very surprised to know that you don’t need an architect to draw plans for your kitchen or bathroom remodel project. All plans are reviewed by the city in the building department, but they don’t need to be drawn up by an architect.
How much is it to remodel a kitchen or bathroom?
The national average upscale kitchen remodel is more than $80,000 says HGTV. You can get basic cabinets installed by the Home Depot for a couple grand. It’s up to you, your current home, and your vision for the new kitchen or bathroom that you want.
What cities do you work in?
We’re based in Fresno, California and have completed home and kitchen remodeling projects in Fresno and Clovis.
What Do Your Clients Say?
They say they love us and would have us work for them again.
What does “design-build contractor” mean?
It means you are only dealing with one company, instead of many. We take on all the headaches of budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating all of the interior design, materials delivery, actual construction, and finishing of your remodeling project.
What is the difference between local custom cabinets and your factory cabinets?
The finish. Our cabinets are finished at the factory not at the job site! This creates a furniture quality and durability unattainable by most local cabinet shops.
Will it take longer than the contract says
Job delays can occur due to additional work, (authorized by the homeowner), or weather. But on average our jobs are completed within the allotted time on the contract.
Will there be extra or hidden costs after we start?
There are never any “hidden” costs. If a homeowner decides to make changes after their job has commenced, these costs are priced out ahead of time and approved by the owner.
